When our team first formed in the fall of 2011, we noticed a distinct challenge… students were not convening in public spaces and the campus seemed too quiet for its own good. Our design solution was to create a community building installation that brought students physically together around an experience that fit within the students’ maker spirit. This project was modeled after Candy Chang’s “Before I Die” chalkboard installed in many cities throughout the country. We realized the installation was a success as the board required daily erasing to make room for new student-submitted content.
